To mark Earth Day, HGREG is launching its sixth annual “Buy a Car, Plant a Tree” campaign in partnership with Tree Canada. From April 22 to May 22, 2022, HGREG will plant a tree for every car sold by its dealerships. Since the beginning of this initiative, a total of over 3,000 trees have been planted.
“This commitment is very important to us,” says Harry Kasparian, Vice-president of Marketing at HGREG. We are aware of our industry’s environmental impact and, as one of Canada’s largest new and used car retailers, we recognize that it is our duty to take action and join this cause. We intend to support a variety of environmental initiatives such as this over the next few years.”
This particular campaign will help increase forest production in poorly regenerated parcels in the Lac-Saint-Jean area through the planting of black spruce, tamarack and jack pine. The site is frequented by various types of users, including a dog-sledding club, outdoor enthusiasts and hunters. The planting and recultivation will therefore enhance the recreational potential of this area. It will also contribute significantly to the creation of wildlife habitats, which will support a diversity of wildlife species living in the area, as well as improve air quality and increase carbon sequestration.
HGREG hopes to plant up to 1,000 trees thanks to this campaign.
